Susceptibility to heat and cold. Strain 8656, wdpks1Δ-1, and wdpks1 Δ-1-501 yeast cells grown for 7 days in YPD medium at 37°C and incubated at 42°C for 2 h or -20°C overnight. Survival was compared to fungal cells incubated in PBS. Values are averages of the standard errors of the means for three measurements. *, p < 0.001 and **, p < 0.01. The experiment was repeated with similar results.
