  1. Wild-type MG1655 cells carrying the plasmids listed above were grown at 30 °Cin ABT medium, harvested at OD450 = 0.15, and analysed by flow cytometry as described in Methods. The proportion of cells in different periods of the cell cycle were calculated as described previously [20]. The values are the average of three experiments, the standard errors are as shown in brackets
