QTL validation. S. cerevisiae QTLs for paraquat resistance, determined using PHENOS, compared to QTLs found in the same set of strains grown in liquid media. In both experiments, 576 strains were phenotyped, each an F1 progeny from one of six different crosses of four geographically diverse parental strains (A = American, E = European, S = Saki, W=West African). Different crosses produce different QTLs, though one QTL on chromosome XII is common to all the crosses. The results show that PHENOS reproduces the liquid media QTLs and is more sensitive
