Electrophoresis mobility shift assay between RsmA and RsmW was carried out by synthesizing RsmW in vitro with T7 RNA polymerase. The fluorescently labeled RsmW (0.05 pmol in a final volume of 10 μl) was incubated in the absence (a, lane 1; b, lane 1) or presence of increasing concentrations of RsmA (a, lanes 2-7; b lanes 2-8), and in the presence of unlabeled specific competitor RNA, RsmW (5 pmol) (a, lane 7) or unlabeled competitor RNA, RsmY (5 pmol) (b, lane 8).
